FANTASY

Round two, let’s talk about the frontcourt rotation and how it’s going to affect fantasy.

Of course, DeRozan and Vooochie are starting and getting 36 minutes. Drummond is the backup at center since nobody else is over 6-7. I am predicting Torrey Craig mans the four position to start. Alex Caruso and Passive Pat Williams will get the remaining minutes.

The Fades

I’m not going into the DeMar DeRozan business probably ever again. Age is undefeated, and he dealt with injury to his leg for a good portion of the season. He very well might defy my predictions, I am aware, and I’m sure he’s working hard and is properly motivated. You take him in the 4-6 rounds, I’m just going to go you get and with more upside.

That said, he’s a good bet for points, some assists, and good percentages. He will be lacking for your forwards in steals and threes, putting you behind in those categories. Eye of the beholder; this beholder doesn’t behold guys well who are 35.

Patrick Williams is constantly the topic of podcasts right now. I’m not going to talk about the future, just the present. He’s too inconsistent to roster. For every 20 points, or ten boards, or 3 treys, there’s an equal or greater number of clunkers. I don’t think he gets consistent minutes for fantasy this year. Mock draft data shows him not even picked in the top 144. Listen to the industry. Leave Williams on the wire until he has a month long stretch of something juicy.

Steady Eddies

Vooochie will get his 17-11, 1 trey, and hopefully more assists due to the added shooting on the roster. He’s quite the valuable commodity in points leagues. He’s good in roto except for blocks, and of course he’s getting older too. If I can get him in like the sixth, yay! In the third, boo!

Role Players

Alex Caruso is joy on a basketball court. This applies only to defense though. He absolutely cannot shoot and has his turnovers with few assists. Get him for the steals for sure late in a draft.

I’ve also been a real life fan of Torrey Craig for years and I think he’s the starter at the four. 2 3 pointers and a steal and block can anchor your categories from the later rounds.

Ignore a Bull

Dalen Terry is two years away from being two years away from being any sort of contributor. Don’t even stash the guy in a dynasty prospects league. Do that with Sonogo, or Julien Phillips, sure, but I harbor zero hopes for Terry in the near future.
